What is a Digital Twin?

»Digital Twin is most commonly defined as a software representation of a physical asset, system or process designed to detect, prevent, predict, and optimize through real time analytics to deliver business value.« - GE Digital

Pairing of the virtual and physical manufacturing processes and systems allows analysis of data and monitoring of processes and systems to head off problems before they even occur, prevent downtime, develop new opportunities and even plan for the future by using simulations.

DIH will help and support companies to develop and implement a digital transformation strategy based on research and innovation that can consolidate and expand national competitive advantages. At the same time the transformation of the national and European manufacturing sector into new intelligent systems will be supported in line with research and innovation agendas of DIHs in Europe.
